Set on 18.7 acres in NW Cape Coral, Jim Jeffers Park officially opened to the public in June 2007 and is the first park north of Pine Island Road. The park acquisition and some of its components, including an accessible playground, were made possible in part from grant moneys acquired by the City of Cape Coral. This is the first neighborhood/athletic park that the City of Cape Coral has built in 13 years.
The park was named in honor of former Council Member, Jim Jeffers, who served on the City Council from November 2005 until his untimely death while in office September 2006. Jim suffered a spinal cord injury early in life and thereafter demonstrated every day that using a wheelchair is not an impediment to enjoying an exciting, productive, and meaningful life. This park, designed to be fully accessible, is dedicated to his courage and compassion, with gratitude for his service to the people of Cape Coral.
