| The
City of Cape Coral is well known for its’ abundance of
canals and waterfront access to the Caloosahatchee
River leading to the Gulf of Mexico. Currently,
boaters may launch their vessels at boat ramps located
at Horton Park or Yacht Club Community Park to access
the Caloosahatchee River directly. City freshwater canals and lakes may
be accessed via the BMX Strausser boat ramp. The Burnt Store boat ramp also provides access to the Gulf of Mexico via Ceitus Boat Lift.
The Yacht Club Community Park Yacht Basin includes such amenities as 89 yearly slips, four transient slips, a control depth of 5’ and free holding tank pump out. It is located on the Caloosahatchee River, ICW Marker 78 and monitors on channel 16. The facility is conveniently located to downtown Cape Coral. Horton Park is located at ICW Marker 60 on
the Caloosahatchee River just south of the Veterans Memorial
Bridge and Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. The park
offers a scenic view of the river with picnic areas and
restrooms. From land, it is
located east of Del Prado Boulevard on Everest Parkway
at 2600 SE 26th Place.
The BMX Strausser boat
ramp located at SW 7th Court and 15th
Street can be used to access Lake Kennedy and Lake Saratoga
as well as numerous fresh water canals where bass fishing
is popular. There is parking for up to 20 vehicles
plus trailers.
Burnt Store Boat Ramp is located on the North Spreader Waterway at 230 Burnt Store Road South. This ramp can be used to access Matlacha Pass, Charlotte Harbour, and the Gulf of Mexico through the use of a boat lift. The Ceitus Boat Lift provides Gulf access. It is operated by the City and is open from 6:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. seven days a week. The Lift can handle vessels up to 15,000 lbs.
