GIS

Under Manager Darryl Clare, the GIS division is responsible for the City’s Geographic Information System. This is a sophisticated mapping system that relates various elements of data regarding the City into "layers" on a map of Cape Coral. This includes not only street centerline data but complete information regarding property parcels, canals, utility lines, zoning, and future land use designations and so on. The City has the server based ESRI ArcGIS system deployed ensuring that all users access the same centrally maintained data. Beginning in 2005, key features of the GIS have been made available to the public online. During FY 2007 the GIS division will implement the Freeance system to provide enhanced web capability to the public.
